September, 2023

PCI Health joined the rest of the world to celebrate the WPSD under the theme, 

“Sustained Access for Everyone to Dermatology Solutions”

The event was organized in partnerships with World Patient Alliance, skin patients, the careers, the Ministry of Health through the Chaisa Health Centre and the Ministry of Local Government, through the Lusaka district Chaisa Council office. The event was held on September 16, 2023 at the Chaisa Hall, in Lusaka, Zambia. 

July, 2023

PCI health has joined the rest of the patient organisations and patients globally, to support the GRIDD study. By September 2023, over 200 patient members of PCI health have participated in the study. ]

This evidence is critical to steer policy action on healthcare access in Zambia and drive the social and economic dividends necessarily to support the empowerment of skin patients, especially those marginalised by location, income and gender. 

April, 2023

PCI Health launched the Sustained ACCess for Everyone to Dermatology Solutions (SUCCEEDS) project. Phase 1 of the project is targeting to (1) Identify 100 skin patients, (2) reduce their financial barriers to healthcare access and (3) reintegrate them back Ito communities as socioeconomic empowered citizens. 

The identification of Skin patients phase has been completed and report publicly available for sharing and support.

We are currently collecting data to for the study: Public Involvement In Health Financing  for Universal Health Coverage in Zambia: Content Analysis of the Implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Establishing criteria to inform prioritisation of benefits package is critical in informing systematic decision making. However, the criteria to support the essential package in Zambia , are implicit. In this research piece we will apply a DCE to solicit public preferences using a representative sample.

There are limited evidence to support decision making on the expansion of the NHI in Zambia towards the informal sector and the indigent groups.  In this piece we apply actuarial analysis to project a ten-years UHC model for Zambia using the NHI, general government tax and donor funding. We hope the results of this study will support ongoing decision making for the NHI in Zambia

In February 2020, Zambia initiated the implementation of the NHI. In this policy review paper, we explore the consistencies between the policy objective for the NHI and the implementation process, using the public centric approach.
